Gunmen kill Taraba traditional ruler. Unknown assailants have tragically taken the life of Abdulmutalib Nuhu, a third-class chief, in Sensani village, Gasol Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The incident occurred on Thursday night, April 18, 2024, just hours before the scheduled Nwonyo Fishing and Cultural Festival, organized by the Taraba State Government in Ibbi local government area.
According to reports, the attackers arrived at Sensani village around 9 pm and targeted the palace of the traditional ruler. Gunmen kill Taraba traditional ruler.
They fatally shot Nuhu at his residence, which is situated just a few kilometers away from the festival venue.
Nuhu Sanseni, the deceased chief’s older brother, disclosed that the gunmen, armed and riding motorcycles, perpetrated the crime and also seized the chief’s phones before fleeing the scene.
“They came to the area at about 9pm last night, they went straight to his palace, shot him, snatched his two phones.
While they were going, they met with a young man who was coming on a motorcycle, they also shot and broke his leg before leaving the village,” Sansani narrated
A senior police officer stationed in Sansani, who verified the incident, informed the publication that their team was already in pursuit of the perpetrators.
