World’s oldest conjoined twins dies at 62. The world’s oldest conjoined twins, Lori and her transgender brother George Schappell, have passed away at 62 in a Pennsylvania hospital, according to their obituaries published by Leibensperger Funeral Homes.
Born with partially-fused skulls and sharing 30% of their brains, they defied medical expectations by living past 30.
George, who identified as a man, was a successful country singer, while Lori pursued ten-pin bowling, winning trophies.
In 2007, George came out as transgender, making them the first same-sex conjoined twins to identify as different genders.
They lived independently, sharing a two-bedroom flat in Pennsylvania, each pursuing their passions. World’s oldest conjoined twins dies at 62.
“Guinness World Records are saddened to learn of the deaths of the oldest living conjoined twins and oldest female conjoined twins ever, Lori and George Schappell,” Guinness World Records wrote on Friday, April 12.
