In a significant legal development, a judge has issued a gag order preventing Donald Trump from making comments regarding witnesses and others involved in a hush money case.
The order aims to maintain the integrity of the legal proceedings and prevent potential interference or bias.
“It is without question that the imminency of the risk of harm is now paramount,” Merchan wrote.
On Tuesday, March 26, a family court convened at Iyaganku, Ibadan, ordered the remand of Musibau Lamidi, aged 50, over allegations of defiling his tenant’s six-year-old daughter.
Presided over by Magistrate Mrs. S. A. Adesina, the court directed that the landlord be detained at the Agodi custodial facility pending guidance from the Oyo State Director of Public Prosecutions. No plea was taken from the defendant.
The case was adjourned until April 25 for further proceedings.
Musibau, a resident of Olode, Ibadan, stands accused of a single count of defilement, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). According to Inspector Gbemisola Adedeji, the prosecutor, the defendant allegedly committed the act on March 13 between 8 am and 4 pm.
Adedeji explained that the defendant had a dispute with the child’s mother, leading to her eviction. Subsequently, when the woman was searching for a new residence, the defendant purportedly assaulted her daughter.
The prosecutor specified that the defendant’s actions contravene Section 34 of the Oyo State Child Right’s Law of 2006.
