Gerard Pique has shared his perspective on the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) debate between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, having had the privilege of playing alongside both football legends.
Former Manchester United and Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has weighed in on the ongoing debate regarding the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) between arch-rivals Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Pique, who had the opportunity to share the pitch with both football legends during his career, acknowledged their remarkable achievements.
Having been teammates with Ronaldo at Manchester United and Messi at Barcelona, Pique offered his perspective on the intense rivalry between the two superstars.
When asked if the GOAT debate is settled now that Messi has won the World Cup in Qatar, Pique emphasized the incredible performances of both players over the past decade.
‘I think that in terms of talent, Messi is number one, for sure. It’s true that Cristiano has worked very hard to try and compete and fight for that first spot but if you see the careers of both… I would choose Messi, for sure.
‘He showed that even though he’s 35 he can compete as the best player in the world. He showed it in the World Cup.’
