A commuter was tragically killed after being pushed in front of a moving train in an unprovoked attack. Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the incident.
A tragic incident unfolded in Manhattan as a commuter was shoved onto the tracks of a northbound 4 train entering the East 125th Street and Lexington Avenue station in East Harlem just before 7 p.m. on Monday, March 25.
The victim, an adult male whose identity has not been disclosed, was fatally struck by the train, despite efforts to stop it in time.
Authorities took a suspect into custody shortly afterward, described as an emotionally disturbed individual. Charges are pending against the suspect, who was apprehended at the scene.
This incident adds to a concerning rise in violent crimes within New York City’s subway system, including a recent fatal shooting on a crowded train car in Brooklyn.

Among those involved in assaults on transit system employees last year, half were documented to have mental health issues.
The suspect in Monday’s incident, identified as 24-year-old Carlton McPherson, reportedly has a prior assault arrest from October 2023 and was released on bond pending a court appearance in July.
