Jeff Bezos has surpassed Bernard Arnault to become the world’s wealthiest individual.

On Thursday, March 21, Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, surpassed Bernard Arnault to become the world’s richest person, according to data from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Bezos’s net worth reached $201 billion, marking a $2 billion increase from $199 billion on March 20.

Bezos’s wealth primarily stems from his e-commerce and cloud computing empire, Amazon, alongside investments in media and streaming markets.

Arnault relinquished the top spot after a $3 billion decline in his net worth, which dropped from $202 billion to $199 billion within 24 hours.

As a result, Arnault, the proprietor of Louis Vuitton and Moët Hennessy (LVMH), now holds the second position on the list of the world’s richest individuals.

Arnault, characterized as an investor and art collector, oversees an empire of 75 fashion and cosmetics brands, including Sephora. He also acquired jeweler Tiffany & Co. for $16 billion in 2021.

Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla and X (formerly Twitter), closely follows Arnault in third place, boasting a net worth of $189 billion.

Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, holds the fourth position with an estimated wealth of $179 billion, while Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, ranks fifth with an estimated net worth of $153 billion.
