Hisbah cautions non-Muslims in Kano against publicly eating during Ramadan fasting.
The Department of Public Enlightenment of the Kano State Hisbah Board has issued a warning to non-Muslims in the state regarding eating in public places during Ramadan fasting.
Abba Sai’Idu, the Director-General of the Board, communicated this message during an interaction with AIT Live.
He emphasized that it is considered unlawful for Christians and other non-Muslims to openly consume food or engage in any public activity that may undermine the Islamic Religion or lead those observing fasting into temptation. Additionally, the Hisbah boss mentioned that the enforcement team is conducting more frequent patrols throughout the city to apprehend any Muslims found violating Islamic cultural practices during the sacred month.
During Ramadan, Muslims are expected to refrain from eating, drinking, engaging in sexual activity, smoking, and other prohibited acts according to the teachings of the Holy Quran.
In previous years, the Kano State Hisbah Board has been known to arrest individuals observed eating during Ramadan.
