DHQ: Troops kill 188 terrorists, arrest 330 in one week. The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) reported significant achievements by troops deployed on internal operations across Nigeria.

Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, revealed that in the past week alone, troops operating in Northern parts of the country eliminated 188 terrorists, apprehended 330 others, and successfully rescued 133 hostages.

These operations were instrumental in enhancing security and safeguarding the lives of citizens in the region.

Additionally, Major General Buba highlighted the successful arrest of 36 suspected oil thieves and the recovery of stolen products valued at N637.7 million.

During this period, the troops seized a substantial arsenal of weaponry and ammunition, including various firearms and explosives.

Notable among the recovered items were 122 AK47 rifles, 47 locally fabricated guns, 47 dane guns, and 24 automatic pump action guns.

The extensive list also included grenades, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and thousands of rounds of ammunition, along with communication devices, vehicles, motorcycles, and other equipment used by insurgents and criminals. DHQ: Troops kill 188 terrorists, arrest 330 in one week.

Furthermore, troops deployed in the Niger Delta region made significant strides in combating illegal refining activities.

They uncovered and dismantled 21 illegal refining sites, along with 51 dugout pits and 24 boats used in the illicit operations.

Additionally, the troops seized stolen crude oil and large quantities of illegally refined automotive gas oil (AGO).

These operations not only disrupted criminal activities but also contributed to the protection of the environment and natural resources in the area.

Major General Buba reiterated the unwavering commitment of the military to decisively confront terrorism and insurgency across the country.

He emphasized that the elimination of terrorist leaders and the recovery of weapons and assets would further bolster the nation’s security and advance efforts to win the ongoing war against terrorism.
