SSANU and NASU have concluded their warning strike.

Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) have ended their seven-day warning strike.

SSANU President, Mohammed Ibrahim, instructed members to resume work starting Monday, March 25, 2024, in a circular addressed to branch chairmen at public universities nationwide.

The strike, which began on Monday, March 18, 2024, saw workers in various departments such as registry, bursary, works and maintenance, security, and students’ affairs withdrawing their services.

The unions are protesting the Federal Government’s decision to withhold salaries, particularly emphasizing the discrepancy in salary payment compared to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The unions had previously embarked on an eight-month strike in 2022, pressing for improved welfare conditions.

Although the government had invoked a ‘No Work, No Pay policy’ during the strike, President Bola Tinubu approved the release of four of the eight months’ withheld salaries in October.
